# Manage the ComUnity Developer Toolkit

{% hint style="info" %}
***Toolkit administrator role required.** The pages in this section describe the Toolkit administration menu, which manages settings for the platform installation as a whole. These options are visible only when signed in with the **Toolkit administrator** role, and they are separate from Project Settings. If you do not see the Toolkit administration menu, you do not hold this role.*
{% endhint %}

The Toolkit administration menu is available only to the Toolkit administrator role. It manages configuration that applies to the entire platform installation rather than to a single project. Because these settings affect every project on the installation, they are kept separate from project settings and are not visible to project developers.

**Toolkit administrator versus project Administrator.** The Toolkit administrator is a platform-installation role. It is not the same as the project-level **Administrator** role described under App Users & Roles. The project Administrator manages users and roles within a single project; the Toolkit administrator manages the platform installation on which all projects run.
